RUMI-ENSEMBLE – KONSERT

With the strings, percussion, flute, lute, santur and Perisian classical chant, The Rumiensemble creates music that takes you to hidden depths, yet at the same time brings you outwards to the very edge. It has connotations of both the Sufi tradition and the western classical music in its alternation between the tranquil and meditative as well as the seductive and ecstativ moods.
With: Javid Afsari Rad, Ghorbani Alireza, Samani Behnam, Gholami Shahram, Cora Lunny, Samani Reza, Varzideh Davood, Berit Cardas, Elisabeth S. Lie, Gro Lovdahl, Emery Cardas and Marius Knudsen Flatby.

Concert - Falak, a separate genre from the mountains of Central Asia.
Both resounding and powerful it is supposed to reach from mountain to mountain. With instruments as the gheishak, setar, dotar, tombak and ghanon, Dolatmand and his three sons from Tajikistan plays a repertoire with roots from all of Central Asia. Dolatmand is one of the world's grandmasters within folk music, a living legend and a bearer of traditions who has contributed to holding the falak music alive. Many of Rumi's texts survive with the falak music. Dolatmand is a multiinstrumentalist, masters more than 50 instruments and he sings with a rare strength that few can match. Together with his band, he invites to an adventurous journey into the folk music of Central Asia. The female dancer Vatanova completes this concert with unique traditional dance.

Final concert - East meets North
Every year Rumifestivalen works as a meeting place. The audience, organizators, musicians, scientists, authors and performance artists meet, exchange traditions, experiences and thoughts. Because we invite both new and old performers for our festival every year, new synergy and dynamics are created on the background of continuity. During the final concert, we will show the result of new musical meetings and the result of the exchange that has taken place during the weekend. Between the battles, the artists have practiced and planned together, and what we will hear tonight is brand new music, and we can guarantee a unique concert experience.
With: Rolf Erik Nystrøm, Øyoon Groven Myhren, Dolatmand and DJ Mashti, Kristin Groven Holmboe, Vatanova, Ruzimad, Sangimad and Loikshoh.
